Circa: 1920 – 1940’s Size: 61″ X 17″ – / 155 cm X 43 cm / TAJIKISTAN HISSAR Silk adras ikat fragment. Woven with silk and cotton mixed in equal amount. Stylized pomegranate motifs in various sizes which were representing fertility in those times. Tajik adras ikat has softer handle compare to Uzbek adras ikat which comes from soft silk warps. It is a beautiful peaceful feminine design. Shades of pinkish colors are derived from pomegranates. They create a great balance with gold yellow and ivory background.
