Circa: 1900 – 1920’s Size: 61″ X 43″ – / 155 cm X 109 cm / PERSIA – ISFAHAN Block printed cotton textile fragment. They use engraved wooden blocks for printing as well as painting with “GHALAM” which means brush in Persian and “Kalam” in Arabic but origin is Aramaic “KALAMA”. Block printing came to Isfahan from India and it is believed it was brought by Mongol invaders in 11th century. This one missing skirts and outer guard border. Skirts are the area where we see larger Boteh motifs. Colors are superb natural dyes and amazing fine workmanship on a very fine handloomed cotton. Great condition.
