Circa: 1930 – 1940’s or earlier Size: 12″ X 8″ – / 31 cm X 20 cm / HUNGARIAN SILK EMBROIDERED small panel. This type of embroidery is called “Matyo” which is also the name of the Northern area where Matyo people live. They are famous for their embroidery work that dates back to 1800’s. The main field is decorated with birds and geometric figures on embroidered net while the borders support the composition with flowers in Matyo embroidery method. Survived in great condition. It can even be a part of a larger embroidery. It has plain fine cotton backing.
