The product shipped to you will likely be different in colour and wood grain (figuring). The wood is black walnut. The stock pattern is based on original factory stocks. They can be oversized and it is recommended they be fitted and finished by individuals with experience. If an original stock was checkered, to keep costs low the stock has been left uncheckered, but this can always be added by a gunsmith/woodworker before finishing. In some instances, a plastic buttplate is installed as many originals have been lost or misplaced. Most versions of steel buttplates are obsolete. Feedback from customers is that some guns, like lever actions, require more fitting due to bent tangs from use or poor quality control by the manufacturer.
